3 Things Not to Do After a New York Slip and Fall

Often, a New York slip and fall attorney will provide you with a list of things to do after a fall injury to protect your legal rights to a potential recovery. That is an important list and one that we also provide our clients. However, it is equally as important to learn what you should not do after a slip and fall.

Specifically, it is important that you:
  • Do Not Delay Medical Treatment. A delay in medical treatment may be suspicious to an insurance company or jury. A defendant in a slip and fall case may use your delay in treatment as evidence that your injuries were not so bad or were caused by something else other than the accident.
  • Do Not Discard Evidence. Evidence such as pictures of the crime scene or pictures of your initial injuries may be critical to your later recovery.
  • Do Not Delay a Legal Consultation. The sooner that you consult a New York injury attorney, the sooner your lawyer can advise you and help you protect your legal rights.

NIce post.I like this information.First and foremost, seek appropriate medical care if you have been injured as a result of a slip & fall personal injury accident. If you are injured, and cannot move, or believe that you may have been seriously injured, ask for help and wait for assistance. If you believe the accident may have been the fault of the property owner or other responsible entity, then you need to have documentation that you were actually injured and sought appropriate and reasonable medical treatment. Your medical records will be a primary indication of just how seriously you were injured. If you believe medical treatment is necessary, or you have medical questions, it is always better to seek the appropriate medical care to document the specific extent and sometimes cause of your injuries. It can harm a personal injury lawsuit if an injured victim does not timely receive medical care.
