Tragedy struck the Northern New Jersey town of Roselle Park on Saturday, June 25, 2011. A two year old boy, whose name has not yet been released to the media, died after being found unresponsive in a swimming pool.
According to Roselle Park Police, the toddler was attending a neighborhood block party with his parents on the afternoon of June 25. At approximately 5:15 p.m. the child was found unresponsive in a neighbor's swimming pool. He was rushed to Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth. It was there that he was pronounced dead.
The pool where the child was found is located in the 800 block of Elm Street. No charges have been filed, as it appears that the death was accidental. Yet, it remains unclear how the 2-year-old child was able to access the swimming pool area on a neighbor's property.
According to information from the CDC, most drowning deaths for children ages 1 -4 occur in residential swimming pools while the children are in the care of their parents and wander away for fewer than five minutes.
We extend our sincerest condolences the family, friends and neighbors of this little boy following this New Jersey pool accident.
