Posted on Jan 27, 2011

A New York construction accident took the life of one construction worker and injured three others on Queens Boulevard in Elmhurst earlier this month.  The accident occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. on January 10, 2011.

According to the City Building Department, a cinder block wall that was 18 feet high and 65 feet wide collapsed at the construction site where construction workers were erecting a five story building.  Four men were rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center.  One man went into cardiac arrest and died on the way to the hospital.  The others arrived at the hospital in serious condition.

The construction worker who died has been identified as 26-year-old Hedilberto Sanchez.  Mr. Sanchez was married with two children and a third expected this March.  His brother, Miguel, was one of the three workers injured in this New York City construction accident.

The Queens District Attorney’s Office is investigating this fatal accident and a stop work order has been issued for the site.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends who survive Hedilberto Sanchez, and we extend our best wishes for a fast and complete recovery to the three men injured in this New York construction accident.
