New Jersey Construction Worker Critically Injured in Workplace Acciden

Posted on Nov 17, 2010

A New Jersey construction worker was critically injured in an accident on Tuesday, November 9, 2010.  The worker has been identified as 24-year-old Esidras Valles of North Bergen.  Mr. Valles was working on building a one story structure attached to the high rise located at 5101 Park Avenue in West New York, New Jersey.

The construction worker was on the roof of the construction site during the morning of November 9, 2010, when an air conditioner fell 15 stories from the high rise next door and landed on him.  Officials who responded to this New Jersey construction accident said that the man lost a lot of blood and was rushed to the hospital.  He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center and was reported in critical but stable condition later that day.

Police are investigating how the air conditioner fell, and the town construction code official notes that there are no regulations that require how air conditioners must be secured in multi-story buildings.  Construction was stopped on the building for at least the remainder of the day.

We extend our best wishes to Esidras Valles for a speedy and complete recovery following this New Jersey construction accident.
