New Jersey Train Collides with Car Just Before Christmas

Posted on Jan 17, 2012

Just days before the Christmas holiday, a train collided with a car in Jersey City. According to New Jersey Transit (NJ Transit), a Hudson – Bergen Light Rail train hit a car and derailed around 3 a.m. on Friday December 23, 2011. The accident happened on 6th Street in Jersey City, New Jersey.
There were no passengers on board the light rail train at the time of the collision. The driver of the car had to be extricated from the vehicle and is believed to have suffered non-fatal injuries in this New Jersey train accident. It is unclear whether any NJ Transit workers were injured.
Friday morning commuters faced delays as the car involved in the crash had to be removed from between the train and the utility pool, the derailed train had to be moved, and the New Jersey railroad accident had to be investigated. After those things happened, the tracks had to be inspected before railway traffic could resume. Buses helped with the traffic delays, and the PATH was honoring NJ Transit tickets.
Our New Jersey FELA attorneys extend our best wishes to everyone injured in this crash and hope that they have both a full and fast recovery from their New Jersey train accident injuries.
