SEASTREAK UPDATE:
HOFMANN & SCHWEITZER FILES CLAIM FOR INJURED PASSENGER ON THE SEASTREAK WALL STREET.
SEASTREAK, LLC, The owner and operator of the Seastreak Wall Street ferry which collided with a pier in lower Manhattan, injuring some 70 people, has filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court of New Jersey, seeking Limitation of Liability for the injuries its boat and operators caused on January 9, 2013.
This proceeding is a lawsuit it filed to protect itself from claims for injuries that might exceed the value of the boat after the incident. Claimants who were injured must file a claim in this proceeding, which is filed in Newark, New Jersey. Failure to file a claim, pursuant to a court order, by May 16, 2013 could lead to the claim being denied as untimely.
Our maritime law firm has filed a claim and answer in this proceeding, and we urge anyone who was injured to protect their right to assert a claim for their injuries in this case, otherwise, your claim might be precluded in the future.
