5 Dangers of Aerial Lifts for Bronx Construction Workers

Without an aerial lift it would be difficult, if not impossible, to do your job. You simply wouldn't be able to reach parts of your Bronx construction project. The good news is that aerial lift accidents do not make up the majority of Bronx construction accident injuries or fatalities; the bad news is that aerial lifts can be dangerous and are often the cause of some construction injuries and fatalities in the United States each year. Accordingly, it is important to be aware of the five major risks you face while on an aerial lift.

The Five Major Risks of Aerial Lifts on Bronx Construction Sites

According to the Center for Construction Research and Training, five risks you should be aware of include:

  • Electrocutions. These types of accidents are overwhelmingly due to overhead lines and occur when a person comes in direct contact with an overhead wire or when an object comes in contact with the wire.
  • Falls. Fall accidents occur when a worker falls from the aerial lift bucket, for any reason.
  • Collapses or tip-overs. Collapse of the boom, collapse of the bucket, or a tip over of the vehicle can occur and cause injury or death.
  • Caught in accidents. Often this involves a worker getting caught between the bucket and another object, such as a roof.
  • Struck by accidents. This can occur when the worker is hit by other materials or when the aerial lift itself is hit.

Of course, other accidents may also occur.

Let's Work Together to Prevent Future Aerial Lift Accidents

One way to prevent future aerial lift accidents in the Bronx and around the nation is to raise awareness about the risks. Please share this post on Facebook and Twitter. Let's spread the word and try to prevent future tragedies.
