Deck Collapses in Oceanport Injuring Three

Posted on Sep 30, 2010

On September 11, 2010, a deck collapsed at an Oceanport, New Jersey, home.  The deck was on the second story of a home on Horsepoint Neck Road.

The homeowner and two guests were on the deck at the time that it collapsed.  Reports indicate that one side of the deck tilted, and it collapsed.    The homeowner and one of the guests were treated for injuries at the scene of this accident.  A female guest had to be taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of her injuries.  Her injuries are believed to be non life-threatening; her name has not yet been released.

What Caused This New Jersey Property Accident?

The homeowner reported that the deck was already on the home when the home was purchased in 2004.  The Oceanport Building Department is investigating this accident to determine if there were any building code violations that could have led to the deck collapse. It must also be determined if the deck was constructed properly and was structurally sound.

We wish a speedy and complete recovery to the woman who was hospitalized and to the homeowner and the other guest who were treated at the scene of this New Jersey deck collapse.
