Two New Jersey Railroad Workers Injured in a Flash

Posted on May 09, 2011

Two New Jersey transit workers suffered injuries after an electricity-related accident on Saturday, April 16, 2011. The accident occurred in Secaucus when a worker, whose name has not yet been released, took something off of an overhead wire. The object on the wire has not been confirmed but may have been a sheet or a banner, according to NJ Transit Officials.

When the worker tried to take the object off of the wire, an electrical flash occurred. This New Jersey train accident occurred around 1p.m., and the two injured workers were promptly taken to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Their injuries allegedly included burns and potential eye wounds.

As a result of the workers' injuries, the train had to be evacuated and the passengers were put on another train to New York City. Despite the incident, trains ran only 15 minutes behind schedule for part of the afternoon before resuming normal service.

We extend our best wishes for a fast and complete recovery to both of the NJ Transit workers injured in this New Jersey railroad accident.
