Employment Training Update: TheGlobal Wind Organization entity called the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) is a non-profit body founded and owned by the leading wind turbine manufacturers and owners/operators. Headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, it provides training and education and creates industry standards for world-wide use of wind turbine electric generation, including a committee, established in 2019, focused on the North America wind energy industry. It seeks to develop and instruct workers and operators standards to make an injury free work environment in the wind turbine industry. Current members include GE Renewable Energy, Vestas, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, Ørsted, Energia and RWE Renewables.

PROCEEDS THROUGH VIRTUAL REALITY offshore wind turbine training

GWO has issued a Basic Safety Training (BST)Offshore wind energy virtual reality training standard in 2012 and continues to update its standards. It recognizes that the industry needs a substantial number of wind technicians. GWO standardised training as seen as a key enabler of the mission to create an injury free working
environment in wind. Recently, in Massachusetts, twelve union members received offshore wind training and received certification through virtual reality training in such areas as Basic and Advanced Technical Training, Blade Repair, Control of Hazardous Energies and Emergency and First Aid,Hoisting and Slinger Signaller Training.
