SPECIALTY TRAINING IN OFFSHORE WIND CONSTRUCTION/OPERATIONS
PROCEEDS THROUGH VIRTUAL REALITY offshore wind turbine training
GWO has issued a Basic Safety Training (BST) standard in 2012 and continues to update its standards. It recognizes that the industry needs a substantial number of wind technicians. GWO standardised training as seen as a key enabler of the mission to create an injury free working
environment in wind. Recently, in Massachusetts, twelve union members received offshore wind training and received certification through virtual reality training in such areas as Basic and Advanced Technical Training, Blade Repair, Control of Hazardous Energies and Emergency and First Aid,Hoisting and Slinger Signaller Training.
