COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY DEVELOPMENT USING EMINENT DOMAIN IS APPROVED BY THE NEW YORK STATE COURT OF APPEALS.
Columbia University has been given the green light to proceed with its $6.3 billion expansion in the Manhattanville neighborhood of Harlem. The Court allows the State of New York to seize by eminent domain a small amount of property currently home to private businesses in the area where Columbia already owns most of the land. The project involves development and redevelopment in a 17-acre area.
