According to our client, Dale Parsons, a fisherman and clam hatchery harvester, who was on the 8:00am Seastreak Ferry today from Atlantic Highlands to Pier 11 at the New York Seaport, who was coming to our office in New York for a meeting, the High Speed Seastreak Ferry he was on crashed into the Pier at approximately 8:45am. Passengers and their belongings were scattered all over the deck. People had fallen over other people especially those passengers forward getting ready to disembark. Dale said that the Ferry, which did not appear to lose power, just kept moving toward the dock. Dale who is familiar with the Ferry operation had said that the Ferry had just been overhauled and it appeared to him that there was some sort of mechanical failure with either the throttle or some other mechanism on the boat. A part of the boats hull had been ripped open when it struck the dock. Dale said that people on the ferry raced off the boat as soon as it was secured to the dock. There were many injured passengers, fortunately our client was not one of them. Many passengers were taken to local hospitals by ambulance with some apparently critically injured.
