High School Senior Critically Injured in New York Subway Accident

Posted on Apr 08, 2011

On Friday morning April 1, 2011, 18-year-old Adrian Rodriguez was commuting to Mara Valle High School on the Lower East Side of Manhattan where he was scheduled to attend a cooking class. Mr. Rodriguez was travelling by subway to get to his class during the morning rush hour. However, a serious injury at a New York subway station prevented Mr. Rodriguez from reaching his destination.

As Mr. Rodriguez was trying to catch the downtown No. 5 train at the Union Square subway station, he slipped and fell on the platform of the southbound express track. After he fell, he was hit in the head by the train.

Mr. Rodriguez was taken from the scene on a stretcher and transported to Bellevue Hospital where he is reported to be in critical condition.

Mr. Rodriguez is said to be a rising culinary star. He was scheduled to graduate from Mara Valle High School in June 2011 and was trying to win a scholarship to the Culinary Institute of America.

We extend our best wishes to Adrian Rodriguez for a complete and quick recovery from his New York train accident injuries.
