MASTER CRANE RIGGER WILLIAM RAPETTI ACQUITTED!
William Rapetti, the master rigger involved in the deadly collapse of a 200-ft tower crane in Manhattan in 2008 was recently acquitted on manslaughter charges stemming from the accident.
Mr. Rapetti, who was called "reckless" by the prosecution and vilified as the "killer crane rigger" in the newspapers, feels vindicated by the court’s decision. He and his lawyers proved that there was a series of failures, including poor and non-existent inspections, an over-aggressive production schedule, and modifications to equipment involved in causing the collapse
